MINNEAPOLIS — The Financial Planning Association’s 2019 Annual Conference kicked off this morning with a reminder of where the industry is regarding oversight.
A crowded group of advisors gathered at 7 a.m. for a session on “New Standards for a Fiduciary World.” Led by Daniel Candura, president of Candura Group, the session covered ethics, regulatory changes and how and when specific information must be given to the client.

The ethics reinforcement was followed by a general session kickoff gathering with legendary NFL Hall of Famer Alan Page.
A gigantic figure in Minnesota, Page played 15 years in the NFL, mostly with the Minnesota Vikings. He followed that with a second career as a lawyer and judge, serving on the Minnesota Supreme Court for 22 years.
Page, 74, delivered a message on the importance of mentoring and role models.
"What we do, we don't do alone," Page said of the role mentoring and role models play in growing up. #FPAConf19
