NEW YORK
The Federal Reserve of New York issued the following news release:The Federal Reserve Bank of New York today published a new section on its website to provide comprehensive information regarding its involvement with American International Group, Inc. (AIG) to the public in a more accessible manner. As part of the Federal Reserve’s ongoing efforts to increase transparency and access to information, the new web page serves as an easy-to-navigate repository for various sources of public information regarding federal assistance extended to the company. Information on the page includes financial data, testimony and news releases, timelines of events and links to relevant documents. In September of 2008, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System authorized the New York Fed to extend credit to AIG in order to protect the U.S. economy from the potentially devastating consequences of the company’s disorderly failure. Since this initial intervention, the New York Fed and the U.S. Department of the Treasury have worked with AIG to materially reduce the company’s systemic risk and to ensure the repayment of taxpayer assistance.Actions Related to AIG (http://www.newyorkfed.org/aboutthefed/aig/index.html)Contact: Jack Gutt, 212/720-6142, jack.gutt@ny.frb.org Copyright Targeted News ServicesTNS MT93-100610-2854943 61MarlizTagarum
