Report: AIG workers’ comp suit can be heard by federal court

The Supreme Court of South Carolina ruled that policyholders suing American International Group Inc. over alleged excessive workers’ compensation rates can have the case heard by a federal court, the Insurance Journal reported.
The Supreme Court of South Carolina has ruled that policyholders suing American International Group Inc. over alleged excessive workers’ compensation rates can have the case heard by a federal court, the Insurance Journal reported Aug. 9.
The class-action suit, brought by Temporary Services Inc. and Charleston Steel and Metal Co., accuse the insurer of underreporting premiums, allowing the company to charge higher premiums, according to the report.
