NEW YORK (Marketatch) — U.S. stocks finished solidly higher on Monday after American International Group Inc. (aig) sold its Asian unit for $35.5 billion and the government said consumer spending rose last month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ($indu) rose 78.53 points to 10,403.79. The S&P 500 Index ($spx) climbed 11.22 points to 1,115.71. The Nasdaq Composite (comp) gained 35.31 points to 2,273.57.
