During his participation in the Digital Meeting 2021, organized by the Mexican Association of Retirement Fund Managers (Amafore), the executive explained that due to the pandemic, institutional investors in the world have focused on placing their assets in resilient businesses.
He said that investors, at least in the short term, have had to seek alternatives in their investments, in order to grow their portfolios in the midst of the health crisis.
The evolution in society has contributed to changes on the part of clients, leading them to opt for alternative investments.
The specialist explained that “there is a fear of being left out by individuals and companies, that is why they seek to diversify their investments. The reason why these are called alternatives is because they are not as liquid as classic assets that can be withdrawn quickly. They are longer term.
Mark Mccombe said that among the main issues to be discussed in the investment world from now on are how the market is postcovid, what will permanently change and what will remain, as well as inflation and what that will mean in terms of creating resilient and sustainable investment portfolios for the future.
The BlackRock executive mentioned that people around the world are not saving enough for retirement, however, in the midst of one of the most challenging times for humanity such as the Covid-19 pandemic, some have realized the opportunity that every crisis brings and have had a positive reallocation of assets in their portfolios taking into account different risk scenarios.
